Materials Vol. 1 - Free Foleys Sample Pack

What is the Materials Foleys Pack ?

This pack is a free small foleys pack that contains 62 live-recorded samples that are made with four different materials : 11 glass samples, 19 metal samples, 14 paper samples and 18 wood samples.

Since I often use those sounds, I thought they could be helpful to a lot of you that's why i decided to release this pack for free.

Why would I use foleys ?

Those can be very useful in many different ways. For example i have a few ways to use the samples that i like :

• As a synth : By sampling the sound and looping a very short part of it (a few ms or even less), you can create a playable instrument with, as far as I know, every sampler that is available. You'll just need to find the sweet spot for your loop in the sample and then process it to get an interesting sound, whatever you're trying to come up with (basses, keys, leads, etc).
• As percussions : Using either simple samplers or tools like the Drum Rack in Ableton or the FPC in FL Studio, you can quickly get very realistic sounding percussions or sounds with an interesting texture. Feel free to try and pitch the samples up and down, heavily process them and also layer them together to get an even more interesting and fuller sound. I personally love this technique especially when i'm looking for a metallic sound or a more natural timbre.
• As a texture layer : Because the sounds are live recorded, they have especially in the high-end, a texture that is, again as far as I know, very hard to replicate with virtual synthesisers. That's why another way i like to use those sounds is to layer them on top of sounds that lacks some frequencies, especially when it's in the high-end, to get a sound I can't get with any of my vsts.
