2.0 Update - What's new ?

Bug fixes :


  • The On/Off button's state should now be stored in your software, so you won't have to turn it back on everytime you re-open your project.


New features :


  • Input and SideChain windows : you can now access the parameters of both the input and sidechain signals. In the Input's window, you'll be able to set the processing order (SC-RM / RM-SC) and design the envelope that controls the pumping effect. And in the SideChain window, you can set the input for the sidechain, and filter it if you want to.


  • Zoom Link : This features disables the knob that controls the vertical zoom of the SideChain input on the visualizer, to link it with the input's one (depends on the input levels of both signals).


  • Horizontal Zoom : The slider bellow the visualizer allows you to zoom in it horizontally, so you can either have a bigger or more precise view of the signals.

What is the RED RMSC ?

 



This device is an algorithmic ring-modulation based sidechain effect, also known as RMSC (Ring-Mod SideChain).

The concept of this method is to substract the signal coming from the side chain to the incomming signal, to leave it room to stand out in the mix without affecting the peaks of the final sound. It is usually used in combination with the usual compression based method, which you can get with my compressor from the Customs Vol. 1 Pack (available on my shop) or with any other compression plugin.




How does it work ?



Here is a visual representation of what really happens into the device in 3 steps with a kick and a bass :



1. | The signal comming from the side chain gets rectified (it goes from bipolar to unipolar) :


Before (side chain signal) :


After (rectified signal) :



2 | The rectified signal from the side chain then gets substracted from the incomming signal :

After (side chain signal removed) :



3 | Both signals can be combined without any unwanted peaks :
